Artist Statement.

Dreams, personal experiences, landscape, physical biologies, the abject, and the concept of play influence my practice. I am interested in my work existing on multiple planes through the exploration of both illusory space in paintings and drawings, as well as the physical space in sculpture and installation. In my work, my goal is to play both with materials, and with meaning. I also “play” with the viewer in how little information is needed through a gesture, a line, a form to understand the illusory space as a space. Ultimately, I hope to question perspective and the interpretation of my surroundings by creating a new kind of visual rendition that expresses an abstract geography, tells a story, or articulates a sense of place.
